Street & Garden Awards were set up over 60 years ago to encourage civic pride and acknowledge those who have contributed to maintaining the image of Christchurch as the Garden City by beautifying their streets and gardens.
The awards are administered by the Christchurch Beautifying Association with the support of Christchurch City Council.
Gardens in all Community Board areas in Christchurch will be considered for Street & Garden Awards in 2017:

Judges select award-winners by viewing all gardens city-wide that are visible from the street. Judges take into account community effort (50%), general appearance (30%) and contributing gardens (20%).
Preliminary judging: 15 - 29 January 2017 (the same time as for Community Pride Garden Awards).
Final judging: 2 - 10 February 2017.
Volunteer judges from the Christchurch Beautifying Association will visit 4,000 streets throughout Christchurch to select award-winning gardens city-wide.
2 February: Feature in The Star will list streets nominated for Street & Garden Awards.
14 February: Feature in The Star will list category winners of Street & Garden Awards.
Awards will be presented at a ceremony hosted by the Christchurch Beautifying Association on 28 March 2017. Winning streets will receive a plaque to be hung prominently in the street, and each gardener in the street will be presented with a certificate.
15 - 29 January: Judges select streets city-wide for nomination for Street & Garden Awards.
2 February: Feature in The Star lists streets nominated for Street & Garden Awards.
2 - 10 February: Final judging for Street & Garden Awards.
14 February: Feature in The Star lists category winners of Street & Garden Awards.
28 March: Street & Garden Awards Presentation hosted by Christchurch Beautifying Association.
