Getting there

Canterbury Agricultural Park and Ngā Puna Wai are situated beside each other, five kilometres from the centre of Christchurch. The main public access is off Curletts Road, beteen the suburbs of Wigram and Hillmorton.

Things to do

Overall, the Reserves Area comprises 83 hectares to be used for a variety of recreational opportunities from organised sports to informal passive recreation. This includes some great walking and cycling tracks around the lake in Ngā Puna Wai. With the exception of the Canterbury A&P Show, the Agricultural Park is primarily used as sportsgrounds.

Ngā Puna Wai is the proposed site for a new athletics track and sports hub (external link)to replace facilities lost at QEII Park and around the city.

  • Ngā Puna Wai is open all hours.
  • The Canterbury Agricultural Park is open during daylight hours.

Dogs are welcome at both sites under effective control.
