The historic Akaroa Service Centre building, a prominent landmark in the centre of the township, is currently undergoing earthquake repairs.
The facility will be returned as a service centre, with some changes in layout, and is hoped to be opened mid-2018.
Before its closure (following engineering assessment) Akaroa residents accessed a range of services at the centre, including making rates payments, applying for rates rebates and paying for dog registrations. Funding was set aside by the Council to repair and strengthen the building in September 2013.
In the meantime, a temporary service centre is operating from 40d Rue Lavaud, Akaroa.
