The Roads of National Significance (RoNS) is being implemented by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA).
The Sumner Lyttelton Corridor is an important link from Lyttelton to Sumner and Christchurch, for the public and the Port of Lyttelton.
The project is to provide a bridge over Curletts Rd linking Wigram Rd into Birmingham Drive/Annex Road, via Magadala Place.
Work is underway to improve water, wastewater and stormwater services in Sumner. Road resurfacing and a crash barrier will also be installed.
Council use a variety of tools and information to predict future demands on the transport network.
The Council monitors activity on around 6,000 intersections in Christchurch.
