Enchanted Garden exhibition

10am to 4pm, Monday to Sunday

The flamboyant fabric creations of local costume artist Jenny Gillies are on show in the Old Information Centre - come see the riot of larger-than-life flowers and fruit on display.

  • $5 entry, children under five free 
  • Old Information Centre, opposite the Armagh Street car park footbridge

Discover the world at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens! Join Agents of Discovery(external link), the not so secret, secret agency dedicated to learning outdoors and solving challenges. Use the clues around you to solve mysteries of nature, culture and technology that change every season.

  • Download the FREE app to your mobile device on the Play(external link) or Apple(external link) Stores, select the Botanic Gardens as the mission you'd like to play and discover a secret world at the Botanic Gardens.
  • Once downloaded, the game can be played offline so you don't need to worry about data or wifi.

All About Gardening: April

The Canterbury Horticultural Society's monthly gardening programme for the everyday gardener. You're invited to come along to a two hour programme of information, speakers, gardening tips and fun. 

This month, Steve Bush from Trees for Canterbury will come along to talk about how his organisation is so much more than a nursery for plants.

  • Held at The Kiosk, Christchurch Botanic Gardens (just over the footbridge from the Armagh St carpark)

2019 Asia-Pacific Tree Climbing Competition

8am to 4pm, Saturday 6 April to Sunday 7 April

Come and watch a top level international sporting event that tests competitor’s agility, speed and skill high in the canopy of carefully chosen trees.

An Arbor Fair will be running below with market stalls and loads of tree related activities and talks for kids and adults alike!

Autumn Discovery Trail: Whatu Kāhu

9am to 5pm, Saturday 13 April to Sunday 28 April

Pests, plants and poo? Oh my! Get your eagle eyes ready for spotting the plants and wildlife that make our environment so diverse in this autumn discovery trail.

The Friends of the Botanic Gardens are proud to present their monthly talk for April.

Dr Janet Cubey, Botanist for the Royal Horticultural Society, will discuss her work and projects, including her role as Editor-in-Chief for the annual publication of 'Plant Finder' over the past ten years.
