The Council’s animal shelter ensures lost and found animals receive sufficient care and welfare during their stay.

The Animal Shelter is not a place for dogs – dogs belong at home with their families.

To prevent your family dog being impounded at the shelter, it is essential your dog is:

  • registered and micro-chipped, to assist in the dog’s swift return home
  • securely contained on your property and not left to wander the streets
  • under effective your control when being exercised
  • immediately reported to Animal management if lost.
