Although the familiar, well-used Riccarton Community Centre building on Clarence Street has now been sold, the Service Centre is still operating from there until it eventually relocates to the new community facility.

Located just a bit further down Clarence Street from the current service centre, it will feature customer services, a meeting and performance hall, activity/meeting rooms of different sizes, and a kitchen. It will also be the main meeting place for the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board.

Historically, the Riccarton Community Centre in Clarence Street has always been part of the vibrant community life in Riccarton. Situated near the Westfield Mall and opposite the Windmill Centre, it is a significant facility to its local community.

Update: 20 December 2018

Contractors are set to dig in at the Riccarton Community Centre site, with a sod-turning ceremony for the new $4.5 million facility taking place today.
