The Council’s guiding principles are reflected in the strategic framework [PDF, 46 KB]. These principles guide the development of the Annual Plan and Long Term Plan.

The community outcomes describe the kind of city we would like to see, and what the Council aims to achieve in meeting the current and future needs of the community.
Everything the Council does in its day-to-day work is focused on promoting the achievement of our community outcomes.
The Council cannot achieve these outcomes alone – it will require collaboration with other agencies and the community.
The strategic priorities are the areas of the Council’s operational activities where elected members want to see a change in approach or increase in focus over the next three years and beyond.
The Council remains committed to providing outstanding core services and these remain clearly articulated in the community outcomes.
